Artistic capability: Photographers need to be able to create a shot, appreciate framing, color and light to produce a visually enjoyable photograph. Business Skills: self-regulating photographers need skills to transport in new clients, meet with people, talk with clients, as well as run their own business, keep records and keep fixed cost in check. Computer Skills: Most photographic manipulation is done through computer. Retouching photos, adding details or other digital add-nos will be from end to end a computer. Attention to Detail: Photographers must have an eye on everything before, during and after the shot. Concentration to detail makes sure that every hair is in place and nobody is photo bombing in the back of the shot. Interpersonal Skills: When operational with people, photographers need to converse clearly and in a friendly way to get what they want out of the photograph. Getting a job as an Assistant Photographer is one of the best route into a career in qualified photography. Assistant Photographers can learn on the job from a professional, without the accountability of running a business or producing professional quality images before they are ready. They must do whatever is necessary to ensure that a photographic shoot runs effortlessly. Usually, this involves preparing sets, checking that all equipment is execution properly, setting up lighting and garnishes, taking meter readings, uploading files and transporting film or prints to and from laboratories. When working from a studio, an Assistant Photographer will help out with general management, keeping the sets clean and tidy and printing photographs as required. They will be expected to catalogue and optimize digital files, to scan film and to aid with image manipulation and enhancement.
